CH-CH-CHANGES

Oh… hey there! It’s been a while.

Over these last few weeks of not posting or writing, I’ve been thinking a lot about this blog. What are my intentions? Am I doing this blog for myself or for others? What is my “why?” Blah… Blah… Blah…

So, this is what I’ve concluded from my impromptu break from Memoirs in Overalls.
1. I’m no longer going to promise a particular post on a particular day. It was causing me to just push content out, fueled by stress and anxiety. I’ll still be sharing music, writing activities, and personal essays, just not every single week. Additionally, and most importantly, I will not be limiting myself to just one month to read a memoir. I know, I know, all you readers out there are thinking, “A month is more than enough time to read a book!” But flippin life, man! One day I’ll be able to read more than one book in a month, but for now, I won’t post about a new book until I’m actually ready for it.

2. I will be sharing much more about my up-to-date feelings, life, random happenings, and vulnerabilities. I didn’t think this was necessary at first and wanted to stay far away from it, but I realized it’s important for my future memoir. I sometimes filter out life stories, but as I continue to work on my memoir I need to be more transparent.
3.Also, with all of this content change, Memoirs in Overalls needs a make-over. Stay tuned for a possible new look in the next couple of weeks.

4. If you know me well, you know that I’m obsessed with true crime. I listen to all true crime podcasts (if you need a recommendation, let me know), watch a variety of true crime t.v. shows while cleaning, getting ready, writing, working, lounging, and the only thing holding me back from becoming a detective is the whole cop requirement thing. With all of that said, I’m going to start incorporating this other passion into the blog. Not 100% sure yet where this will take the blog, but I think somehow it will harmoniously just be.

The first step is reading a memoir that has true crime laced in! woop woop! The next memoir I’m reading is The Adderall Diaries: A Memoir by Stephen Elliott. I was recommended by someone on some true crime podcast (sorry, I know I’m awful, can’t remember who recommended it) to read it & I purchased it right away. I’m a few pages in already and it’s fantastic! Read it with me, or don’t, either way, I’m just here to say this is what I’m reading next. 🙂

If you’re still there and following along, thank you. Truly, I appreciate you! Next post will be posted when I’m ready to post something. I’ll be more present on my Instagram though, so find me there! ❤
